Dexter Review
By: Leroy Miranda-Mejia
The show Dexter: Resurrection is a successful sequel to the hit crime drama series Dexter. The show was initially released in 2006 and ran for 8 seasons. The show is about a man named ‘Dexter’ who kills serial killers who have dodged the legal system. But he isn’t your ordinary person; he has traits of psychopathy. He can uniquely channel those urges with the help of his adopted father, who gave him a code and helped him fake emotions to blend in. This Sequel is already doing better than all of the other sequels before it. I think the reason this show is so successful is that its marketing was top-tier. In addition, people liked Dexter: Original Sin, which had recently come out 5 months before Resurrection.
As mentioned above, with marketing, it was teased that many old fan favorite characters from the original Dexter were going to be in the new show. The writing and pacing are amazing compared to the original Dexter. Each episode averages a 9.25 out of 10 compared to the original Dexter with an 8.49.
The show focuses on his son, Harrison, and how Dexter has to adapt to modern times. Because he is not a blood spatter analyst, it’s harder to find people who got away with murder. If you are looking for a good show with good character development and a story to keep you on your toes, you should watch all of the Dexter series.
