Black Myth Wukong Review
By: Leroy Miranda-Mejia
Do you know about the legend of Son Wukong? It comes from Chinese mythology about a monkey who eats from an ancient peach tree and is given godlike powers. Well, if you know the story or are just a fan of action-packed games, Black Myth: Wukong is the video game for you.
Black Myth: Wukong is a video game made by Game Science. It was first released on PlayStation 5 and PC on August 20, 2024. When the game first came out, it had 2 million active users on Steam, but now it has 15k, which is really impressive for a solo story game. The game was released on Xbox a year later.
I bought it, and the first hour of the game is amazing. You start the game by playing as Wukong, fighting characters from “The Heavens.” However, it didn’t go as planned. Then we jump into the future, where you are the destined one, and go on a journey defeating other Chinese mythical creatures. The bosses in the game are very challenging, but the gameplay is amazing and keeps you playing. Your objective is to uncover what happened to Wukong and his story and recover 6 relics of the real Son Wukong. The game separates itself from the main story by having you play as another monkey who sets out on an adventure to find out what happened to Wukong. You are probably thinking, “So you don’t get any of his cool abilities,” but that couldn’t be further from the truth because you get all of his abilities and even his magical staff. Overall, this game is 9/10, and if you are looking for a fun action-packed adventure, this game is for you.
