The Reiner Case – Current True Crime
By: Nitzaliah Festinger
This week, Nick Reiner pleads not guilty to the murders of both his parents.
Just this past December, Rob and Michelle Reiner, a famous couple in their seventies, were stabbed to death in their own home. Their 27-year-old daughter soon found them in the master bedroom. Since then, investigators have pinned the couple’s son, Nick Reiner, as a prime suspect in the case.
Nick was most likely chosen as a main suspect due to the fact that he lived in the guest house on his parents’ LA residence, as well as how he previously spoke about struggling with substance addiction, and mental health. It is not yet known whether or not the substance use, and mental struggles will factor into the case, but if it is it could be used for the argument of insanity.
Rob and Michele Reiner, are a pretty well-known Hollywood couple. While Rob was working on the film “When Harry Met Sally”, he met Michele, and they had an instant connection. They were happily married for 36 years, and worked together on many sets, before dying by each other’s sides in their home.
Some people have been conspiring if a friend of Nick could have been involved in the murders. While she has not been named a suspect, Katherine Short was known to have a very close relationship with Nick, and also struggled with mental health. There aren’t any signs really pointing to how Katherine could have been involved, but she did commit suicide shortly after the murder. Some people speculate, thinking she may have either been involved, knew about the murder beforehand, or just have been so disgusted by what her close friend has suspectedly done.
In the end, nobody knows what may be to come regarding the Reiner case, but it will be interesting to watch as new details are uncovered. May Rob and Michele rest in peace.
