Guthrie Case Updates – Current True Crime

As time goes on, the Nancy Guthrie case continues to puzzle the world. She has now been missing for three weeks. Her family is worried, the police question if she is even alive, and now the FBI has decided to get involved.
While no suspect has been named yet, investigators have viewed footage that was earlier found showing a middle-aged man in a ski mask and gloves. In this video he was seen attempting to tamper with, or disable the doorbell camera. Along with this, a glove that looks like the one the man was wearing in the video was found around the front of Guthrie’s house, and FBI investigators plan to do DNA tests to track down a potential suspect.
Savannah Guthrie, Nancy’s daughter, has recently posted a video sharing her hope for her mother. This is the fifth video she has posted, and the others can be found on her Instagram and a few news sites. In this recent one, Savannah tries to convince her mother’s kidnapper to turn themself in, and free Nancy. Savannah says, “it is never too late to do the right thing. And we are here. We believe. And we believe in the essential goodness of every human being. And it’s never too late.” This message communicates how the kidnapper can still make things right, illustrating the idea of redemption.
In contrast, Donald takes the “bad cop” role, announcing that if Guthrie is found dead, her kidnappers will face “the most severe” consequences, agreeing that he would want the death penalty to be pursued for them.
As for the investigation, police have been canvassing gun stores local to the Guthrie residence, as well as collecting tips from the public. They have received between 40 and 50 thousand tips to go through and create leads from.
Police are struggling to come up with a motive for this offense. Originally, they believed it could’ve been a failed burglary, but ruled out this possibility. In an interview, investigator Nanos said “The motivation for it is where we get stuck, right? Is it for money? I mean, we had the one demand where they asked for money. But is it really for money, or is it for revenge for something?”, adding, “And that’s what makes me say this is a kidnapping,”.
As this search continues, family, and friends of Nancy Guthrie, as well as police investigators hold out hope for her, and her safety. Hopefully she can return home soon.
